Bardejov - Historical Town Center
The historical center of Bardejov is one of the most preserved town centers in Slovakia, therefore Bardejov is sometimes named as the most gothic town in Slovakia. The Town Hall square looks the same for several hundred years. The square is dominated by the Town Hall building in the middle and the late gothic St. Egidius church from 15th century. Since the year 2000 Bardejov Town Center is listed on Unesco World Heritage list as exceptionally well preserved evidence of the economic and social structure of trading towns in medieval Central Europe. Medieval Fortification System
There have been up to 30 towers and 4 gates in 17th century that guarded the Bardejov - an important trading hub of that era. The fortification system is well preserved until today and you can walk on walls as the city guards before you. City walls, towers, gates and bastions have been built between 1300 and 1600.
